CRISIS PREVENTION INSTITUTE CPI Certification Trainings

Who is invited?
Educators and building staff who work with volatile students…particularly those who work with students who may require physical intervention to help them be available for learning. Individuals who hold CPI certification are also invited to keep their certification active.
What format will the training be in?
Option 1: The In-Person training will consist of one full day training on the BASSC campus as indicated below. Attendance will be limited for the In-Person training and attendees will be required to follow the school guidelines for mask usage that are in place at the time of the training.
Option 2: The On-Line training will consist of two sessions. One half day on-line and one half day in-person. The on-line portion will be on your own and the in-person will be on the BASSC campus as indicated below. Approximately one week prior to the in-person session you will receive an email from CPI with the online directions to complete the training.
*** The online training and test must be completed prior to attending the in-person session.***
What will you learn?
During this certification program you will learn ways to de-escalate aggressive interactions through understanding the stages of a crisis. You will also be certified in a non-violent safe physical intervention technique. Certification for educators is required in Illinois if you are to participate in physical restraints.
When can you be trained?
We will be offering the following in-person sessions at no cost to you:
Option 1: In-Person Trainings
1. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 (In-Person) (8:30-3:30)
2. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 (In-Person) (8:30-3:30)
3. Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 (In-Person) (8:30-3:30)
4. Thursday, May 29, 2025 (In-Person) (8:30-3:30)
Option 2: On-Line/In-Person Trainings
1. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 (On-Line/In-Person) (8:30-12:00)
2. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025 (On-Line/In-Person) (12:00-3:30)
3. Thursday, March 13, 2025 (On-Line/In-Person) (8:30-12:00)
All In-Person Trainings will be held at the Pathways ES or BASSC Board Room
